A Kathmandu operations desk, not a booking website
Adaan Travels & Expedition has been filing permits, hiring crews and running radio schedules out of Thamel since 2011. The people who answer your WhatsApp message are the same people who brief your guide the morning you fly to Lukla.
Fourteen years of Himalayan field logistics
We started with one hired jeep, two porters and the Annapurna circuit. The business grew the way mountain businesses in Nepal actually grow — a client came back, brought a friend, and told us what we had got wrong. Fourteen autumn and spring seasons later we run trekking, peak climbing and overland departures across the Khumbu, Annapurna, Langtang, Manaslu and Upper Mustang, and we still fit every departure around the same three questions: who is on the hill, what is the weather doing, and can everyone get down.
Everything is run in-house. We hold our own Nepal Tourism Board registration (Govt. Regd #NTB-7812), we file TIMS cards and national park permits ourselves at the Bhrikutimandap office rather than through a broker, and we keep our own vehicles and drivers rather than subcontracting the Kathmandu–Pokhara and Kathmandu–Syabrubesi runs to whoever is cheapest that week. When something goes wrong at 4,500 m, a subcontracted chain is exactly the thing you do not want between a sick trekker and a helicopter.
We take no advance payment. You settle in Kathmandu, in rupees or by card, once you have met your guide and seen the kit. It is an unusual way to run a travel business and it costs us the occasional no-show, but it means nobody has ever wired money to Nepal on the strength of a website and then wondered what they had actually bought.

Our porter welfare charter
Porters carry the trek. Most of the avoidable harm on Nepali trails happens to them, not to clients, so these commitments are written into every crew contract we sign — and we will cancel a departure rather than break them.
-
20 kg hard load cap
No porter carries more than 20 kg, ever. Client kit is weighed at the trailhead in front of the porter and redistributed on the spot if it is over. Their own kit sits on top of that, not inside it.
-
Insurance before departure
Every porter and guide is insured for medical treatment, helicopter rescue and death or disability before the crew leaves Kathmandu — not bought afterwards if something happens.
-
Altitude clothing and footwear
Above 3,000 m we issue an insulated jacket, windproof shell, gloves, sunglasses and proper boots. Nobody crosses a pass in trainers because of what they could afford that morning.
-
Sick porters descend as clients
A porter with altitude symptoms or an injury is evacuated on the same terms as a paying trekker, with wages paid for the whole itinerary rather than the days walked.
-
IPPG charter signatory
We follow the International Porter Protection Group charter on load, clothing, shelter, illness and pay, and we are happy to be audited against it.
-
Fair pay, settled in Kathmandu
Daily rates sit above the TAAN minimum and are paid in full at the end of the trek in Kathmandu. Tips are additional and go straight to the crew, never through the office.
